To be considered an active member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish, every family and single adult must be registered in the parish. Only in this way can the parish issue documents, e.g., a letter to be a Godparent or sponsor. If you would like to be a member of this Church, please fill out the form that are available at every entrance of the Church and bring it or mail it to the parish office, or place it in the collection basket.

Reservations for the class should be made by calling the Parish Office at least 2 week in advance of the Baptism. Godparents must be confirmed Catholics. One non-Catholic may be accepted as a Christian witness.

Reconciliation

Also known as Confession, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is where the faithful encounter God’s infinite mercy and forgiveness. At St. Cyril & Methodius, this sacrament is offered on and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.- 5 p.m.

Confirmation

For Student Confirmation (for youth grades 6 and up) and Adult Confirmation, click here.

The Sacrament of Confirmation perfects the grace that Christians receive during Baptism. And, similar to Baptism, it imprints an indelible mark on a Christian’s soul, which is why this sacrament can only be received once (CCC 1316).

For adults who want to be confirmed (18 and up), St. Cyril & Methodius’s also has a Confirmation program for you. Please contact the parish office  to learn more.

New confirmation program will start in September 2019.

Eucharist and First Communion

For children’s First Communion, click here.

The Eucharist is the “source and summit of the Christian life”, and all the other sacraments are ultimately oriented toward it (CCC 1324). We Catholics believe that Christ is present in the Eucharist, and that in the Holy Mass we all participate in the heavenly liturgy.

New Eucharist and First Communion program will start in September 2019.

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick, also called Extreme Unction, is administered to any baptized person who is seriously ill or in danger of death (CCC 1513), and can only be administered by a priest. Parishioners who would like to receive the sacrament may do so by calling the parish at  (973) 334-0139.

Marriage

Matrimony is the sacrament in the Catholic Church by which “a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life” (CCC 1601). With the blessing of God and the Church – in the presence of family and friends – a couple who enters into marriage celebrates a union of love that is oriented toward each other’s good and towards procreation.

Arrangements should be done at least one year in advance of the marriage date. Engaged couples should make an appointment to meet with the Pastor in the office to determine a date, all the requirements for the marriage and have it officially registered. Contact us at  (973) 334-0139, and we will guide you through the process.
